19/12/07 NEW RENAULT LAGUNA ACHIEVES ONE OF HIGHEST EVER EURO NCAP CRASH TEST SCORES
Laguna II was the first vehicle to ever achieve a five-star rating in the passive safety assessment tests carried out by the independent body, Euro NCAP. It was a result that took the car into a new era. Today, it’s the turn of New Laguna to achieve the same maximum five-star rating. With a total of 36 points from a possible 37[1] , one of the highest scores ever recorded in the tests, the newcomer even outperformed its predecessor to once again highlight Renault`s expertise in the realm of passive safety. In addition to its Euro NCAP credentials, New Laguna delivers reassuring handling thanks to its precise, responsive chassis, while at the same time ensuring a level of braking and technology that puts it at the top end of its category in real-life motoring conditions.

Please find some details of the Market Leading Safety that can be found across the entire Renault range. Many of the safety features listed below are either standard or an available option. Renault are one of the only manufacturers that can boast `Eight` models that have been awarded five EuroNcap Safety stars.
Protection
It is good to know what`s coming up. Renault creates cars that empower drivers to anticipate and avoid hazards that could have otherwise led to an accident.
None of us are perfect. Cruise control, speed limiter and audible and visible seatbelt reminders help drivers to be more responsible.
Monitors including tyre pressure, warning lights for seatbelts, headlamps and ESP help drivers to keep an eye on things.
Being safe is not the same as being boring. Whether it`s automatic headlamps and windscreen wipers, parking sensors or stalk-control Radio/CD-player; we assist drivers with auxiliary tasks so they`re free to concentrate on their driving.
To help drivers stay on the ball, features such as bi-xenon headlamps, fixed cornering lights and adaptive cruise control have been designed to give a heightened awareness of the surroundings.
Fitted to the windscreen, the rain and light sensor controls the illumination of the headlights and the activation of the windscreen wipers. It ensures that the driver always has good visibility for safer driving.
For perfect visibility and greater safety, additional cornering lights increase the driver`s lateral field of vision when his vehicle is travelling round a bend.
Correction
We all make mistakes, but how can technology help correct human error? Road holding and braking are fundamental to active safety and accident avoidance, so Renault has developed a comprehensive range of supporting technology to ensure our safety when we need a hand.
Anti-lock braking
Anti-lock braking (ABS) with electronic brake distribution (EBD) prevents wheel-lock, even when drivers have to brake hard at the last minute.
Emergency brake assist (EBA) is a clever little thing that boosts braking power by detecting an emergency situation. It can tell just from how fast you hit the brake.
Stay in control. Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) keeps your car on the road by acting on the brakes and engine.
ASR Traction Control
ASR Traction Control prevents the drive-wheels from spinning when you pull away.
Variable Power Steering takes the arm-ache out of manoeuvring and maintains maximum precision at main road and motorway speeds.
